100% agree with publicly archiving unsuspecting Twitter users’ reactions on your own site. But scrapping Webmention support altogether _also_ disables blog-to-blog conversations, which is what it’s all about.

Don’t think the GDPR applies to individuals, either. And what about newspaper sites that embed Tweets and Instagram posts? They don’t (have to) ask people’s permission, either. “Hi, there, @‎realdonaldotrumpu, would you be okay with it if we, Het Laatste Nieuws, a Belgian tabloid, embedded your latest brainfart in today’s celebrity gossip ‘article’?”
